Penguins are the cutest things on earth aren't they? I mean really, what's more adoreable than a penguin? Well today I'm pleased to bring you another Freeware Spotlight, this time, involving those cute little penguins. Now I know what you're going to say... "But Peoii! You said that these will run on Windows!", and your darn right I did. Well just because something is native to Linux (The Penguin's OS), doesn't mean that it hasn't been ported to Windows. Take for instance AbiWord, OpenOffice.org, and Gaim, they all started out on an operating system other than windows, and have since been ported to it. So now that we've got that out of the way, back to the game.

Frozen Bubble is it's name, and it is based on a very simple concept. Get 3 or more bubbles of the same color touching one another, and they drop out. Goal? Clear the screen of course. Sounds easy enough, ahhh, but then you realize, all you have is a fixed-position launch point at the bottom center of the screen! And if you're not quick enough, the roof starts moving down on you! Not to mention the fact that the levels become increasingly difficult.

A quick rundown of the features:
100 levels in Single Player
Built-In Level Editor
3 Music Tracks
15 sound effects
7 unique graphical transitional effects

Doesn't sound to exciting? Wait til you've tried it. Frozen Bubble has been rated one of the best Free games time and time again, and it definately deserves this recognition. I mean really, just checkout this screenshot:

So, now on to the business of actually getting it. Here's the links based on your Operating System:
Windows
Linux
OS X
Web - That's right! If nothing else, you can play it via this java version!

And of course, you can always visit the official site to gain more details and additional links if you so choose. Have fun!

Snood, however, is not free software, nor do I believe it's graphic quality to be anywhere near that of Frozen Bubble.

I still stand by my original suggestion.

But thanks for your comment, it's always good to hear what other people enjoy.

No catches, no post cards to send, no nothing..... only thing that has to be followed is the GPL license scheme, which even goes as far as to say you can use the source in a project! So long as you give credit where credit is due.

However, for the average end user who just wants to play? Yes, this software is completely free...
