Well, if you're like me and still at work / school or whatever you're doing today, you haven't been able to go pick up Halo PC just yet... I unfortunately have to wait till Thursday, because I'm not going to have enough in-pocket money till I go to the bank. Stupid clients paying me with checks... anyway, enough of my personal problems.Microsoft, the company that is pushing Halo PC on us like a crack dealer to small children, has already released a 3.6 mb patch for the game. No details on what it fixes or repairs, exactly, but hey, I figure it's from Microsoft, so I don't need to worry about it messing up my PC that much. Get it here.

Does this patch help with the poor performance Halo PC has? I am concerned because every person I have talked to and every review I have read has stated Halo runs really poorly.

Performance is disappointing at first, but believe it or not you “get used to it.” Apparently, setting your graphics options to the default 60 Hz & 30 FPS lock gives a better experience than trying to crank the settings up.

I have a 2800+ Barton with a GeForce3 and the game plays quite decently at 1024x768. I’m sure it can be improved 100-fold if GearBox really knuckled down, but it’s adequate. Just try not to compare it to UT2003/4 too much. Wink I doubt Halo pushes even 20,000 polys on screen at once.

1. Don't be a prick or try to start flame wars. Who is "we", and "us"? Are you perhaps a wee bit schizophrenic?
2. It was the only link I could find. If the guys I got it from hate it that much, then I sincerely hope that they would let me or Tycho know, and we'd gladly fix it.

Noob,

First of all I don't like coming home from a 10 hour shift to see some anon dipshit bashing my staff. If you feel that post isn't correct than please email myself or Dragon. Posting anon and bitching about it isn't going to make me want to remove it but put the whole post in BOLD letters.

Show some n'ettiquette and things are resolved much faster.

Thank You

Thanks for the headsup. I am still sitting on the fence. Hopefully, the demo will push me into buying Halo PC.

Erm... Anyway...

Back on topic, I just reduced my Halo graphics resolution to 640x480 for the biggest performance boost I’ve witnessed. Those shaders must really take their toll at higher res.

But does it still look nice at 640x480?
