i flashed the bios and removed the sound card and still no luck.......after flashing the bios the blue windows loading screen came up and then the computer would immediately hang just like it does when i try to play a game.....i had to retry about 10 times and windows finally loaded up.....safe mode would work however.....

the bios was the newest anyway....but i reflashed it again jus in case....

what to do now?

Hmm maybe it isn't the sound card. The best way to narrow down a hardware problem is to start with base hardware. So just take everything out save teh video card. Then try running it. If it doesn't work it's a VC issue. If not move on to the next piece of hardware. Follow me?

alright here is some more weird shit to tangle your minds.....i finally got windows to load and this was the first time since i flashed my bios and i booted up madden 2004 and it worked like a gem!!! WOOHOO......play for a little bit and shutdown windows...

restart the pc later and boot madeen 2004 up and the damn thing hangs again at the same damn place!!!!! tried numerous times and does so everytime......this continues to happen with other games as well

as far as stripping down to the basics i am down to the basics i have my vid card ram and processor audio is onboard since i took out the sound card as is ethernet......

i couldnmt imagine that this is a gfx card issue tho considering it works fine for all other things.....and the fact that the mobo is a piece of shit anyway..........are there any tests i can do that test gfx proessing power to see if it hangs there as well?

ill try anything damnit....

thanks again for the help

*update*

alright well i tried madden on fri just for shits to see if it worked and it did!!!.....left my comouter on for the weekened and it worked everytime i turned the game on....

then the pc restarted by accident the other day and sure enough it would not work after restarting,.....

however when it did work it ran perfectly.....this makes me think that it is not the gfx right? shouldnt i see some type of slow down or somethign with the gfx if the problem were a gfx card one?

is it the mobo?...

Still could be a mobo issue. ECS's just plain suck. Sorry I couldn't get that info to you sooner.

Confused

thanks for all the help i figured that was the case.....

i emailed the tech support of ecs and of course they claimed it was a memory, vid card, power, or hard drive before the mobo.....they said take it back to where you bought it.......i know there is gonna be no easy way to do this.....is there any way to prove that the mobo is messed up....aside from frying it intentionally....?....

also what is the best mobo i can get that i around 50-70.....i guess if there is no good one then i can go as high as 100 but i dont really want to....

also is the nforce II chipset or something like that better then the older chipsets?

thanks again for all the help

well....i got an old geforce 2mx from home to determine whether or not it was the mobo or the vid card.....

and i could not believe it but the old card worked!.....meaning that my Gainward geforce4 ti4200 128mb GOlden Sample (i bought it cuz it was suppossed to be the high quality card) is not working right!!!....so i put in the old card and it didnt ever freeze while playing any games (they ran like shit but thats a given considering its a 3 year old card)....then b/c of my scepticism i tried the geforce4 one last time and sure enough it froze...

this is where i dont know what to do....i bought the gfx card online from a site that i cannot even remember.....i got it in august of 2002....so a little more then a year ago.....i have the box that it came in......is there some type of warrenty that gainward would have (i will obviously look this up but i just wondered if u guys knew anything)...I still dont understand why the card only does not work for games......i looked at the card and saw no physical blemishes or something like it was fried.....is there any other way to ensure that the card is bad?

the tv out option still works and every other aspect EXCEPT games works.....so the card could still be used......

any suggestiosn would help a lot.....thanks
