Originally Unreal Tournament 2004 was to be released December 12th 2003 in Europe, while the US release date had not been announced. But now Atari Nordic has revealed that UT2004 (as well as Horizons by the way) has been delayed till 2004. So far the delay is only official for the Nordic Countries, but release dates are typically the same all over Europe with only a few days difference. So don't expect UT2004 anywhere in Europe this year.
Of course, anyone with even the slightest exposure to the gaming industry will realise that release-dates should be taken with a hefty pinch of salt. According to the recent Atari Press Releases the game is expected around Christmas 2003, and according to Epic VP Mark Rein in the Q&A thread, favorite buzz-phrase When it's done™ rears its ugly head. I'm inclined to believe the latter. |

Yeah, I saw it. But I tend not to believe release-dates anyway, even if I posted about one myself. |

why do they always say release dates when they never live up to them ??
delaying a game is standard nowadays..big experienced teams and companys who havent got the slightest idea what releasedate they will live up to...sigh shit.. |

Well when it comes to testing for glitches and bugs, there really is no predicting how long it can take. New things pop up, therefore a game which is in "the final 10%" can be anything between a week and 6 months from completion without anyone knowing, even the developers- how could they? Must of the final 10% is down to luck. |
